Job Overview:
The temporary Human Resources Assistant will provide administrative support for day-to-day human resource operations and work under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager.
Responsibilities of the HR Assistant:
- Assist with new-employee onboarding and orientations;
- Assist with the administration of health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations;
- Assist employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures;
- Assist with benefits administration and reconciling benefits statements;
- Respond to reference checks and verifications of employment status;
- Assist with the processing of job changes and terminations;
- Assist with the preparation of the performance review process;
- Schedule meetings and interviews as requested by Human Resources team members;
- Perform document management to include photocopies, emails, and scans;
- File documents into appropriate employee and vendor files;
- Assist with the preparation of or prepare correspondence as requested;
- Assist with logistics for new hire orientations and employee training sessions;
- Process HR mail;
- Assist with HR projects as needed; and
- Other duties as requested based on department and/or organizational needs.
Requirements of the HR Assistant:
- 2 years of experience in a human resources or HR degree with internships.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional Human Resources credential a plus;
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; ability to engage with others in a friendly/professional manner;
- Solid writing skills;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures;
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines;
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment;
- Strong record of cultural competence and cross-cultural communication skills;
- Proven experience exercising sound judgment to make recommendations regarding HR office purchases, service agreements, office contracts, etc.;
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, with staff and outside vendors while keeping management apprised of any special requirements or problems;
- Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure, stressful situations;
- Demonstrated experience and comfort in learning and using new workplace technologies such as HRIS systems, document management systems; and
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
