Position Summary:
The Communications Manager is responsible for managing and executing the organization’s external communications strategy. This role involves creating and implementing strategic communication campaigns, writing executive-level content such as speeches and talking points, and supporting media relations and digital communication efforts. The Communications Manager will work closely with senior leadership to promote the organization’s mission and key initiatives, while ensuring cohesive messaging across all platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications and Content Creation:
- Write and edit various communications for external audiences, adhering to brand and style guidelines.
- Develop speeches, talking points, and presentations for the President, CEO, and executive team for events and media opportunities.
- Assist with high-profile announcements and coordinate with key stakeholders to draft press releases, event briefings, and media advisories.
- Produce newsletters, executive interviews, and industry-specific content such as case studies and reports.
- Collaborate on content for marketing materials including brochures, flyers, and digital campaigns.
- Support special events by drafting messaging for invitations, programs, and other materials.
Media Relations:
- Implement media campaigns to raise brand awareness and promote the organization’s advantages.
- Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and pitches.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Track and analyze media coverage and manage media lists.
- Assist with logistics for media tours and other press-related events.
Digital Communications:
- Collaborate on managing and updating web content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Write social media copy and contribute to digital marketing strategies.
- Track and evaluate the performance of digital communications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, handling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of media monitoring, content management, and digital analytics tools is a plus.
- Experience with speechwriting and executive communications is highly desirable
