The Editorial Assistant works as part of a small, dynamic team, and will assist with the copy editing, proofing, and content creation for print and digital publications along with social media.
Responsibilities of the Editorial Assistant:
- Work with writers across the country to copy edit, proof, and review online news articles, blogs, emails, and social media posts for accuracy, grammar, readability, and style
- Assist in all phases of editing and production of our industry magazine
- Manage web content, and track SEO and analytics
- Possess a solid understanding of a broad range of industry topics
- Plan content strategies, working in partnership with advertisers, and executing upon that strategy (includes special projects and long-form content)
- Create and finalize content
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements of the Editorial Assistant:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Communications or English related major
- Previous copyediting experience for a news publication, school newspaper, blog, or other similar experience
- Excellent, proven skills as a writer and proofreader
- Knowledge of AP style
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working on tight deadlines
- Exceptional ability to organize work and tasks; attention to detail and excellent project management and follow-through are a must
- Familiarity with digital metrics and SEO
- Able to work hours to cover west coast time zones (12pm-8pm EST M-F)
