The Editorial Assistant works as part of a small, dynamic team, and will assist with the copy editing, proofing, and content creation for print and digital publications along with social media.

Responsibilities of the Editorial Assistant:

Work with writers across the country to copy edit, proof, and review online news articles, blogs, emails, and social media posts for accuracy, grammar, readability, and style
Assist in all phases of editing and production of our industry magazine
Manage web content, and track SEO and analytics
Possess a solid understanding of a broad range of industry topics
Plan content strategies, working in partnership with advertisers, and executing upon that strategy (includes special projects and long-form content)
Create and finalize content
Other duties as assigned

Requirements of the Editorial Assistant:

Bachelor’s degree in a Communications or English related major
Previous copyediting experience for a news publication, school newspaper, blog, or other similar experience
Excellent, proven skills as a writer and proofreader
Knowledge of AP style
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience working on tight deadlines
Exceptional ability to organize work and tasks; attention to detail and excellent project management and follow-through are a must
Familiarity with digital metrics and SEO
Able to work hours to cover west coast time zones (12pm-8pm EST M-F)
